Fruits De Mer is a local fishmongers that quickly gained a distinct reputation for supplying the best high-quality fresh fish and shellfish in the South East area. Our business is situated in Broadstairs, Kent, and sources sushimi grade fresh fish caught daily around the South East Kent coastline.

We currently hold a five star hygiene award and are recognised as one of the finest fishmongers in the country.

Established in 1986 and now owned by Jason Llewellyn, our flourishing local business opens its doors at 5am, where a specialised team of seven are more than happy to offer any advice on cooking or preparing the many different species of fish available. We provide up to 50 varieties of top quality and prepared produce for cooking, dressing or selling live. As well as holding a five-star hygiene award, our shop is acclaimed in many respected magazines.

Our locally landed fresh fish is sourced straight from the sea to the shop. With over 24 boats landing, and over 1m kilos of fish supplied each year, our fishmongers provides one of the largest varieties of produce in the country. Not only do we supply locally, but we also have a number of national and international clients.

Specialist Suppliers of High Quality Fresh Fish

All of our local boats, fish and land daily, to provide an ethical and sustainable way of fishing. Locally landed turbot, bass, squid, brill, gurnard, ray, mullet and amazing shellfish are all caught and brought to the shop within hours. The finest quality lobsters and crabs are also prepared and cooked to order on the premises.

Our boats sail around the Thanet coastline. From Margate, to Broadstairs, to Ramsgate and to Deal, all fishing boats are under 10m. We fish single handedly, or with just one additional crew member. Potting boats target the local shellfish, and both our netting and lining boats, are used to target the many different species that change with the seasons. This way of fishing allows us to provide one of the most variable quality catches anywhere in the British Isles.

We work closely with other locally renowned businesses, such as Albarinos, Buoy & Oyster, Giorgios, Hantverk-Found, Little Ships, Little Sicilian, Magnolias, New Street Bistro, Po' Boy, Posillipos, Royal Harbour Brasserie, Sardinia, Tricolor, Turner Contemporary, Wyatt and Jones, and many more fine establishments. We also supply all of the Thorley Taverns pubs and restaurants.

Along with supplying over 200 restaurants and pubs in the neighbouring Kent area, we supply first-rate Michelin-starred restaurants in London with top-quality prime fish such as turbot, brill, Dover sole, and line-caught sea bass. Additionally, we have also been the suppliers to a variety of prestigious events, including the Queen's dinner at Turner Contemporary, the Ferrari race team at the Monte Carlo Grand Prix, and various television programmes including the Great British Menu.
